Floyd Becker
FORT WAYNE — Floyd Becker, 85, passed February 22, 2017, at Kingston Care Center.
He was born August 1, 1931, in Kendallville, to the late Warren and Wilma (Gongwer) Becker. He was adopted by his stepmother, Leona (Prentice) Becker, after the death of his mother.
Floyd graduated from Salem Center School in rural Steuben County in 1949. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Korea.
On January 26, 1957, Floyd married Geraldine Brand at Zion Lutheran Church in Corunna. Floyd and Geraldine were married for 55 years until her passing in 2012.
Floyd retired from International Harvester after 30-plus years. During his retirement he worked at Avis Rent-a-Car, Scott's Supermarkets and volunteered at Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. He also attended Robinson Chapel United Methodist Church. Floyd enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, walking at the mall, singing at church and picking up aluminum cans along roadsides, which he used to buy savings bonds for his grandchildren.
He is survived by four sons, Brian (Mary Ann Cunningham) Becker of Auburn, Barry (Patricia) Becker of Fort Wayne, Bruce (Roxanne) Becker of Grabill and Glenn (Sue) Becker of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Cassleman of Kendallville; and three sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Becker of Salem, Oregon, Judy Becker of Golden Lake, Indiana, and Bonnie Becker of Kendallville.
He was also preceded in death by brothers Lloyd, Wayne, Jim and Dennis.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Robinson Chapel United Methodist Church, 12707 Tonkel Road, with one hour of calling prior. Calling is also 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2016, at the church. He will be laid to rest at Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery at 2 p.m. Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse.
