BUTLER - Howard L. Troyer, 87, of Butler, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn.
He was born on March 19, 1937, in LaOtto, Indiana, to Darwin and Ethel (Kniss) Troyer.
Howard was a 1955 graduate of Butler High School.
Howard was a lifetime DeKalb County farmer. He also worked for Bohn Aluminum in Butler for 17 years.
He was a former member of Butler United Methodist Church.
Howard was a member of Cedar Creek Antique Engine & Tractor Club, Farm Power Club, Tri-State 2-Cylinder Tractor Club and the Flat Rock Creek Gas Engine Steam and Tractor Club.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Michael and Mary Troyer, of Hicksville, Ohio, Karin and Gregory Hook, of Butler and Max and Diane Troyer, of Marshall, Michigan; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Michelle and William Hodges, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Teckla and John Sliger, of Garrett; six grandchildren, Micah Troyer, Marc Troyer, Mitch Troyer, Michele Moster, Troye Hook and Jacob Troyer; five step-grandchildren, Monica Sliger, Nathan Sliger, Theodore Hodges, Patrick Hodges and Rachel Hodges; three siblings, Helen Getts, of Hamilton, Janet and Lowell Johnson, of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Mariam and William Blue, of Mobile, Alabama; and his four-legged buddy, his dog, Ears.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Gloria (Getts) Troyer in 1995; second wife, Dorothy (Bricker) Winslow Troyer in 2015; brother, Paul Troyer; sister and brother-in-law, Norma Jean and William Kessler; and brother-in-law, Richard Getts.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
The Rev. Kevin Marsh will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Butler.
Visitation also will be from 4-7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to DeKalb County 4-H, Cedar Creek Antique Engine & Tractor Club or Farm Power Club.
