ROME CITY - James Conley, age 73, of Rome City, Indiana, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025.
He was born on April 3, 1951, in Hazzard, Kentucky, son of the late Edgel and Virginia Conley (Hart).
James served in the U.S. Marine Corp and later worked as a driver for the Amish for more than 10 years.
On May 14, 1999, he married Teresa Schaeffer.
In his free time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to flea markets. Family and friends will remember him for being a loving father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Teresa Conley; brother, William Conley; sister, Charlotte Lewis; and niece, Michelle Welch.
James is survived by his children, David (Mickey) Conley, of Rome City, James (Tina) Conley, of Kendallville, Angel (Adam) Conley, of Butler, Christopher (Paige) Conley, of Kendallville and Jennifer Conley; stepchildren, Amber, Starr, Robert, Dale, Arizona and James; sister, Janie Tucker; brother, Richard Conley; 28 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at Hill Top Baptist Church, 2722 E. C.R. 900N, Rome City, Indiana, where a funeral service will follow at noon, officiated by the Rev. Wade Studivant.
Burial will take place at Brushy Chapel Cemetery, LaGrange County, Indiana.
Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday from 9-11 a.m.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church, in honor of James.
