Janice Leas

AUBURN - Janice Elaine Leas, age 85, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at StoryPoint in Fort Wayne.

She was born on March 1, 1940, in Garrett, Indiana, to Wilson "Mike" and Dora (Surfus) Houser.

Jan was raised in Altarstar United Methodist Church and she was a 1958 graduate of Garrett High School.

Over the years Jan worked for Midwest Life Insurance in Fort Wayne, Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Auburn, Messengers in Auburn, Cracker Barrel in Fort Wayne and the DeKalb Central Schools, retiring in 2006.

She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, antiquing and she was a talented piano player. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dave Long, of Auburn; daughter, Tish Hart and Steve Ross, of New Haven; three grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa and Ronnie Dobson, Travis and Rebecca Ort and Jonathon Hart; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Deloris Houser, of Auburn; sister-in-law, Vicky Houser, of LaPorte, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Richard Leas; and two brothers, Marvin Houser and John Houser.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.

Funeral services will follow the visitation on Saturday at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Kim Nusbaum officiating.

Burial will take place at Cedar Creek Cemetery, southwest of Auburn.

Memorial donations may be given in memory of Jan to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
