HOWE - Joy J. Sharp, 85, of Howe, Indiana, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1939, in Logansport, Indiana, to Guy E. and Merle A. (Middleton) Neher. They preceded her in death.
In 1960, she and her late husband, Myron, moved from Logansport, Indiana, to LaGrange County. Joy worked for many years as a mail carrier and as a clerk inside the Howe Post Office. After retiring from the Postal Service, she spent the next 36 years as a real estate broker and most recently listed homes for Lewis and Lambright Realtor in LaGrange.
Joy was an active member of the community, serving as a former LaGrange County Commissioner and Council Member. She also served on the Lakeland School Board, was the current president of LaGrange County Council on Aging, and a former board member of Habitat for Humanity. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, the Northeastern Realtor Association, and the Ditsy Divas Red Hat Group.
On June 7, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Logansport, Indiana, she married Myron W. Sharp. Mr. Sharp preceded her in death on June 26, 2024.
Surviving are her three children, Eric B. (Dr. Rhonda) Sharp, of Howe, Indiana, Viann L. Kline, of Howe, Indiana, and Troy (Julie) Sharp, of LaGrange, Indiana. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Erica (AJ) Moser, Cyle (Alex) Kline, Nick (Jan) Sharp and Molly Sharp; and six great-grandchildren, Emily and Darin Moser, Payton and Ruxin Kline and Elijah and Madeline Joy Sharp.
Preceding her in death, along with her husband and parents, are her siblings, Bill Neher, Jack Neher, Mary Fry and Robert Neher.
Visitation will take place on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, from 3-7 p.m., at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 797 N. Detroit St., LaGrange, Indiana.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dana Stonebraker officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Howe, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to LaGrange County Council on Aging or the Sharp Family Fund in care of the LaGrange County Community Foundation.

Joy sharp was my dad's cousin. His name was Dean j neher. Sometimes she would see me and my brothers Jerry and Larry neher at Walmart in sturgis and stop to talk to us. I am linda neher Avery. She was a very nice lady. Condolences to her family.
