Karen Carpenter Obituary

HUNTERTOWN - Karen L. Carpenter, age 79, of Huntertown, Indiana, died on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, at The Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler, Indiana.

Karen was born on Oct. 19, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Orlo and Connie (Ayers) Carpenter.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Sue Carpenter, of Garrett, Richard and Jo Ellen Carpenter, of Antwerp, Ohio, and Randy Carpenter, of Fort Wayne; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra Wainwright and Toby Walker, of Auburn and Lori and Tim Shuman, of Waterloo; brother-in-law, Thomas Ellert, of Fremont, Indiana; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sherry Ellert; an infant sister, Jody Ann Carpenter; and two nephews, Mark Wainwright and Chad Carpenter.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, from 1-3 p.m., at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn.

Burial will take place at a later date at Hicksville Cemetery in Hicksville, Ohio.

Memorial donations may be made to DeKalb Humane Society, 5730 C.R. 11A, Auburn, IN 46706.
