Kaye Fisher Obituary

COLUMBIA CITY - Kaye Ann Fisher, 77, of Columbia City, Indiana, died at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.

She was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Kendallville, Indiana, daughter of the late Delbert C. and Mary Jane (Moore) Wright. After living briefly in Avilla, Indiana, the family moved to Etna-Troy Township, Whitley County.

After completing Etna-Troy School, she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1964. She continued her education at Ball State University in Muncie.

On June 12, 1965, she married Phil Alan Fisher. They made their first home in Muncie while they completed college, then moved to Fort Wayne. In 1967, they moved to Columbia City, raising three sons.

She had worked for Partners 1st Credit Union in multiple positions from 1986, until her retirement in 2010.

An active member of First Church of God, Kaye served as the church secretary from 1982 to 1985. Fond of children, she also worked in the church preschool from 1977 until 1985, and held an Early Childhood Education certificate. She and her husband were long-term members of the church's New Life small group. They were also members of the choir and participated in special performances during the Christmas and Easter holidays.

At home, she enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables. Over the years, she liked to camp in their travel trailer, visiting sites throughout the Midwest. When the grandkids came along, they became her focus and joy. She liked to attend their school sporting events and programs. After their retirement, the couple spent their winters on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 59 years, Phil; children, Mark (Susan) Fisher, of Fort Wayne, Brent (Tracie) Fisher, of Indianapolis and Troy (Jennifer) Fisher, of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Additionally, Kaye was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Wright; and a sister, Carolyn Coyle.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.

Burial will be at Nolt Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June, 20, 2024, at the funeral home.

Thinking of Kaye's family today. I worked with her at Partners 1st FCU and she was always a kind soul. I was here with her when we were Phillips FCU and we used to have so much fun at branch conferences. Please know that you are all in my thoughts this weekend as she has been gone 1 year this year.
