Martin Simmonds Obituary

AUBURN — Martin G. Simmonds, 89, of Auburn died Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at DeKalb Health in Auburn.
Mr. Simmonds worked for 42 years in the electrical industry for J.C.P. & L., I & M, and P.S.E. & G., retiring in 1987.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as electricians mate third class and was part of the Seabees.
Mr. Simmonds graduated from La Salle University with a degree in law.
He was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church and a former member of the New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo.
He was a Ham Radio operator with the call letters of KK4PI and was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol, was a Past Exulted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 2151 in New Jersey, 65-year member of the Masonic Lodge in New Jersey, Florida, and Indiana; was Past President of the Lions Club and was Past President of the American Right of Way Association.
He was born August 5, 1926, in East Hampton Long Island, New York, to Arthur G. and Lilly R. (Carlson) Simmonds.
He married Norma F. Flood on April 27, 1946, in Patterson, New Jersey, and she died April 2, 2004.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert G. and Susan Simmonds of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Harry A. Simmonds of Bridgeton, New Jersey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine L. and Larry Warstler of Auburn, and Susan D. and Clinton Silvers of Asheboro, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Carmilla Simmonds; a sister, Queenie Nielsen; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lakewood, New Jersey, at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
