Richard Flener Obituary
Mr. Flener retired in 1979 from the United States Postal Service after 31 years of service. Following his retirement he worked as a caretaker for the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery for five years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific.
Mr. Flener was a member of American Legion Post 420 and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville and had worked with the church's food bank.
He was born July 21, 1922, in Bargersville, Indiana, to Ira Estel and Delia (Hart) Flener. He married Rose Anderson on Feb. 16, 1946, in Terre Haute. She survives in Monroeville.
Also surviving are a son, Richard (Becky) Flener Jr. of New Haven; two daughters, Janice (Glen) Myers of Auburn and Patricia (Gary) Prichard of Hershey, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Woody and Chester Flener.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 201 E. South St., Monroeville. Burial will be in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday.
Memorials are to Monroeville EMS.
