GARRETT - Richard L. Sechler, age 90, of Garrett, Indiana, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving grandchildren.
Richard was born on Oct. 28, 1934, in Edgerton, Ohio, to Harold J. and Alberta E. (Morgan) Sechler.
Richard married Norma Jean Mowrey on June 14, 1958, in Garrett, Indiana, and she passed away on Dec. 20, 2017.
Richard worked in car sales for many dealerships, the last being Sanderson Auto Sales, Auburn, Indiana.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett, Indiana, and the Knights of Columbus.
Richard is survived by his five grandchildren, Denver (Ashley) Miller, of Waterloo, Indiana, Mac Surfus, of Garrett, Indiana, Ashley (Jamey) Pauley, of Avilla, Indiana, Abbi Surfus, of Garrett, Indiana, and Tanner Surfus, of Garrett, Indiana; six great grandchildren; sons-in-law, Terry Miller, of Auburn, Indiana, and Paul Surfus, of Garrett, Indiana; brothers, Ron Sechler, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Dave Sechler, of Bryan, Ohio; and sisters, Mary Vaughn, of Edgerton, Ohio, and JoAnn (Gary) Jennings, of Morganton, North Carolina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garrett, Indiana, with Fr. Brian Isenbarger officiating.
There will be visitation from 10-11 a.m., on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial will take place at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garrett.
