Our sympathy to you Terri, Renee and Diane on the passing of your dad. Both of your parents were so sweet and gentle, loving and kind. How wonderful that you had the privilege of spending many years with both, but even more years with your dad. Praying you will know God's peace always, and enjoy your sweet memories.

We knew the family. Edna and Gladys worked with Shirley at RSVP for many years. We also knew through Farm Bureau and farming and as neighbors.

Sammy was a great community minded individual. In the early 1960's he was the 4-H leader of the Jackson Township Blue Ribbon 4-H club which I was a member. We had a large club at the time and Sammy did a great job in helping the 4-H members with their projects - especially making sure projects were completed.
Also at that time there were many rural 4-H members who were involved with livestock projects. Our 4-H Club had a livestock judging team, which Sammy greatly supported. At one time our team had some talented judges and Sammy, with the help of Russell Guinther at Riverdale High School sought out sponsors to help the team take part in a National Livestock Judging contest in Maryland. The trip was enjoyed by all and was an experience we all remembered. Oh---jamming 6 people in one vehicle and traveling the long distance was also a memory. Thanks to Sammy for giving 4 judging members an opportunity of a lifetime.
Sammy was also the leader of the Rehoboth-Concord-Meese Chapel fast pitch softball league, which played weekly at the ball diamond in St. Joe. It was a very enjoyable experience. The team did very well in the league - thanks to Sammys skill as a coach.
