GARRETT - Stephen C. Reas Sr., 81, of Garrett, Indiana, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1943, in Fort Wayne, to Elmer and Marceyle (Balmer) Reas.
Steve was an Amtrak engineer, working for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and Conrail. He also co-owned and operated three different taverns in the area, Joe's Place in Ashley, The Retreat in Auburn and Wayne Street Tavern in Waterloo.
He married Eleanor Topp on Feb. 14, 1986, in Maui, Hawaii, and she passed away on Nov. 23, 2000.
Surviving is a son, Stephen C. Reas Jr., of Garrett; daughters, Shelley (Jim) Ohneck, of Fort Wayne, Renee Pfister, of Auburn, Kelley Young, of Fort Wayne, Shelli (Richard) Cundy, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Kelli Strock, of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-aw, David (Bonnie) Reas, of Fort Wayne; and sister and brother-in-law, Kathy (Jr.) Amstuz, of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and grandson, Clinton Swaidner.
Services will be held at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, IN 46706, with his son-in-law, Jim Ohneck ,officiating.
Calling is four hours prior to the service pm Wednesday, from 2-6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in memory of Steve, to the DeKalb County Humane Shelter.
