BUTLER - Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Wilma Janette "Jan" Simmering was born May 7, 1941, in Pleasant Hill, Illinois, to Milo and Wilma Forgey.
She met the love of her life in 1969, at a candy store and was married for 55 years.
She retired in 2005, after 28 years at Kimball Electronics.
After retiring, she traveled the United States with her truck-driving husband, until he retired in 2008.
She was in many different bowling leagues over the years.
She was very active in her church and touched the lives of countless people with her gentle spirit. She was a loving and true friend to many.
She loved gardening and the outdoors, but more than anything, she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patsy Forgey; brother, Wilbur Forgey; daughter, Carmen Michele Keuneke; granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Barth; and a great-grandson, Chase Smith.
Surviving are her husband, Steve Simmering, of Butler; sister, Linda (Jeff) Hallows, of Louisiana, Missouri; son, William (Julie) Martin, of Trenton, Ohio; three daughters, Kathrine (Mark) Smith, of Spencerville, Dona (Steve) Billings, of Belding, Michigan, and Kerri Webb, of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Her smile was contagious, and her wisdom guided us through life's challenges. She will be deeply missed by all who know her.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Butler Christian Community Church, 501 W. Green St., Butler, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service on Saturday.

Visitation also will be from 2-6 p.m., on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the church.

Only mother I will ever have. She was my Mom for 63-years. I love her and will miss her until the day when we all kneel before our Lord and Savior, Jesus. What a great day that will be.
