David Gill Obituary

David Eugene Gill was born June 4th, 1959 in St. Joseph MO and passed away at 65 years of age. He resided in Stewartsville, MO his entire life. He worked briefly for the Chase Candy Company and for the Stetson Hat Company, both in St. Joseph, MO. However, he spent most of his life as a self-taught computer technician and electronic repairman. Many people in the community relied on him to help with their technical issues. Although he never married or had children of his own, he was a beloved uncle to his nephews and nieces. Much of his life was dedicated to taking care of his mother and father as they aged in life. He was a large part of the Gill and Cline families, and will be missed by the rest of us whom he leaves behind. David loved to spend time outside working the garden that he and his mother planted every year. They spent several hours canning the vegetables and freezing the corn the garden produced, as well as making jams, jellies and sweet pickles. He was a dedicated son to his parents, a wonderful uncle to his closest nephews and a great friend to several others. Each year he looked forward to celebrating the Fourth of July with a large fireworks display launched from his own pasture. David attended and was baptized in the Stewartsville Baptist Church early in life. He never lost his faith which in fact became stronger as he grew older. There was no doubt in his mind where he stood with God and Christ as he prepared himself to pass from this world into the next and after fighting cancer for years, he was ready to move on. David was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Gill, Sr, brother Donald Lee Gill, Jr and several relatives. He is survived by his mother Betty Gill, brothers Doug (Diana), Daryl (Stephanie), Bruce (Judy) and Scott (Elora) Gill and many relatives and friends. He is gone but will never be forgotten Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Turner Family Funeral Home of Stewartsville with burial following at St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation: 1:00 p.m – 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. It is with great sadness that I read this news of David's death. I worked with his brother Don here in Houston, Tx. He was my lunch buddy and friend. Through Don I met David. He was a wealth of Knowledge. I bought a 10 foot satellite dish from David and with Don's help we were soon up and running. It was in the mid-nineties (I don't remember the exact year) my wife, my two children, and I stopped by the home and met David and his mom and dad. we made a point to include this stop on our vacation. We spent that evening in St Joseph in our pop-up. Everyone was so welcoming. David and I continued corresponding for a few years and then off and on and like so many lost touch. He reached out to me in 2022 and he filled me in about Don Sr and Don Jr passing and of his illness and a brother taking him to treatments. I tried to later reach out but no reply. I searched tonight and found this, David was a sweet soul as well as all of the family I met. I am sure this was because of the loving home in which they were raised. I will always remember and treasure the memories. I am sorry for your loss.
