Delores Claycomb Obituary

Delores Mae Claycomb, 90, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at a Wathena, KS health care facility. She was born August 11, 1935 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Eva Esther (Powers) and Loyd Simpson Sr. Delores attended Benton High School. On December 31, 1954, she married Jay Claycomb. She spent many years owning and operating many store fronts, which included the Cody House in Weston and Lemon Tree Antique Shop in St. Joseph. She loved supporting her children in all their activities. She was very passionate about everything she did, whether it was designing, painting, floral arrangements, or antiques. Delores was a member of the St. Joseph Show and Shine Club, and the former Carnegie Baptist Church. Preceding her in death is her husband, Jay Claycomb, her parents, brother, Loyd Simpson II, and sister, Mary Wilcoxson. Survivors include: her three sons, Larry (Treasa) Claycomb of St. Joseph, Richard (Tami) Claycomb of Agency, MO, and Scott (Shirley) Claycomb of St. Joseph, sisters, Marty (William) Winder of St. Joseph and Marna (Jerry) Milbourne, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Ms. Claycomb has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Rupp Funeral Home.
