Lloyd Ruth Obituary

Lloyd "Verne" Ruth, 85, Savannah, Missouri; left his earthly home to be joined with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Sunday November 2, 2025.

Verne was born June 15, 1940 in Downing, Missouri, to the late Floyd and Jewell (Westhoff) Ruth. He was raised on the family farm and enjoyed farming for several years.

Verne married the love of his life, Sadie Peel, on March 30, 1966 at Calvary Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa. Together they celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage.

Verne retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa, Iowa, after 30 years of dedicated service. After his retirement Verne became a highly sought after interior and exterior home painter.

Verne was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God. He attended church regularly and drove the church youth bus to pick up children for Wednesday evening service. In 2010 Verne and his beloved wife moved to their current residence in Savannah, Missouri. There he became a member of the Family Worship Center where he regularly volunteered in Joseph's Storehouse as well as served on the security team. Verne was a man of tremendous faith, a prayer warrior and a talented carpenter and painter. Verne could fix anything and still be found climbing ladders until just a few years ago. Verne loved being outdoors, keeping an immaculate yard and home, watching football, keeping track of the weather, and most of all he loved spending time with his family. Verne was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

Along with Verne's parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Arelene Webb and his son, Steven Ruth. Survivors include his wife, Sadie, of the home; daughter Bridgette Whetsel (Mike), and son Terry Dotson (Teresa), brother Vaughn Ruth (Jenny), Grandchildren Amanda Grier (Kurt), Tiffany Litton (Taylor), Olivia Fleming, Megan Webb (Phillip), Jonathan and Dillon Dotson; 10 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 7, 2025 at Family Worship Center in Country Club. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment in the Savannah Cemetery. Dinner will follow at Family Worship Center.

The family has requested memorial donations to the Family Worship Center or The International Fellowship of Christian and Jews.
