Carol E. Kastrup

Carol E. Kastrup, age 88, of Laurel, passed away at her home in Laurel surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025. Celebration of Life - Open House, St. Mary's Parish Hall 408 Elm St Laurel, Saturday, October 18th, 2:00 p.m. ~ 4:00 p.m. Carol Elaine Kastrup was born on December 5, 1936 to Bert and Florence (Danielson) Lute on a farm near Laurel, Nebraska. She attended country school and graduated from Laurel High School in 1953 at the age of 16. Carol was crowned Laurel High's first Homecoming Queen. Carol married Borge Kastrup on October 14, 1956 at the United Presbyterian Church in Laurel, Nebraska. They made their home in Laurel where they raised their two children, Cynthia and Jerry. Over the years, Carol worked as a bookkeeper at the Ford dealership in Laurel, City of Laurel, Urwiler Implement and was co-owner of the Sale Barn Café. After retiring, she kept even busier clerking auctions, mowing lawns, doing snow removal, running paper routes, babysitting for grandchildren, Ross and Audrey, and bookkeeping for Jerry's businesses. Carol enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies with others. Her chocolate chip cookies were a fan favorite. She was a competitive card player (always keeping score) and had fun trying her luck at the casinos now and then. Most of all, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a beautiful woman with a generous, caring, and selfless heart. Carol will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Carol is survived by her husband of 68 years, Borge; children, Cynthia (Rolly) DeLong, Jerry (Tama) Kastrup; grandchildren, Candice (Gabe) Gansebom, A.J. (Leslie) DeLong, Colten (Jessica) DeLong, Bethany DeLong (Victoria Morin), Ross (Ann) Kastrup, and Audrey (Daniel) Wessel; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Lute; sisters, Valieda Burns and Dianne Wubben; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. Preceding Carol in death were her parents, Bert and Florence Lute; sisters-in-law, Roberta Lute, Elsie (Lloyd) Nielsen, Ruth (Bob) Kenaley; brothers-in-law, Gene Burns, Daniel Wubben, Kai (Mabel) Kastrup, Carlo (Mildred) Kastrup, Thork (Lorraine) Kastrup, Leo (Bonna Del) Kastrup, Robert (Julie) Kastrup; parents-in-law, Edmund and Karen (Andersen) Kastrup.
