David E. Guretzky

Memorial services for David E. Guretzky age 44 of West Point, NE will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point with Pastor Priscilla Hukki officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 6:45 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

David passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at his home.

David Edward Guretzky was born on April 24, 1981 in West Point, NE to John and Ruth (Gawronski) Guretzky. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, NE. Dave attended West Point Public Schools and graduated from West Point High School in 1999. He went on to take some courses at Metro Community College.

Dave was a jack of all trades. He helped install GPS systems at golf courses, put up light poles in Iowa, helped area farmers at harvest and most recently was employed in the Agronomy and Horticulture Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dave loved being outdoors in nature, hiking, canoeing with his father and siblings, kayaking, fishing, running, golfing and snow skiing. He enjoyed music and attending many concerts. Dave was an animal lover and took care of the stray cats in the neighborhood. He was a Nebraska Football, Volleyball, and Baseball fan, and was an avid fan of the New York Mets. Dave loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Jonathon, Kevin, Braden, Caitlyn, Sophia, and Samantha

Dave was preceded in death by his father-John Otto Guretzky, and grandparents- Otto and Virginia Guretzky and Stanly and Eugenia Gawronkski.
