She passed away Monday October 20, 2025, at her home at The Meadows in Norfolk. Memorials may be directed to The Lutheran Hour.
Donna Mae Johnson was born August 14, 1929, in Wayne to Clarence and Mabel Olive (Gossard) Sorensen. She attended and graduated from Wayne High School. She worked at Felber's Pharmacy and then as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company in Wayne. Donna Mae married Willis Eugene Johnson, January 9, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. The couple farmed for eight years until moving into Wayne in 1956. Donna Mae was a homemaker and then the secretary for the State Farm Insurance Office in Wayne where Willis was the agent for 32 years. The couple moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1989, before moving to a warmer climate in Weslaco, Texas. In 2005, Donna Mae and Willis decided to move to Norfolk to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, making ceramics and playing cards.
Donna Mae is survived by her four children, Virginia (Gary) Kirch of Blair, Vivian (Bob) Blaser of Versailles, Missouri, Peggy (Charles) Menke of Norfolk, and David (Ann) Johnson of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, April King, Aaron Menke, Amanda Menke, Tanya Reagan, Teri Fox, Toni Deutschman, and Liz Zoubek; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceding Donna Mae in death were her parents; wonderful husband, Willis, October 31, 2013, sister, Evelyn (Robert) Parke; parents-in-law, Andrew and Clara (Lilje) Johnson.
