Jean Reineke Obituary

Meridian - Nelle Jean was born in Boise to Herbert W. and Kathryn Belle Wait September 18, 1939.

She is a graduate of Boise High School. She married Charles H. *Chuck* Reineke on December 28, 1957, and moved to Melba where they raised Robin and Reid.

Having dated when she was in high school, Fred Burdick came back into her life in 1990.

Jean always had some sort of handwork or sewing project in the works. From sewing for her children, knitting and needlepoint to finding her true passion-counted cross-stitch. She has created countless beautiful pieces that will be treasured by family and friends for years to come.

After retiring from Jackie's Beauty Salon in Melba, she again became active in her much-loved Rebekah Lodge. She served as Assembly President in 2015. Jean came to thoroughly enjoy getting to know the members of each lodge and seeing our beautiful state up close. She was also a member of the Wilson Sage Hens, where she gained many friends and enjoyed contributing to the community.

Jean died at home among loved ones on her own terms.

She is preceded in death by Chuck, her parents Herb and Kathryn, and uncle C.B. Wait.

Survived by her longtime companion Fred, daughter Robin Reineke (John Leonard), son Reid, all of Portland. Beloved granddaughters Ayn Reineke (Adam Surowiec) and Jane Reineke (Trevor Prescott), and their mother Mary Darr. Sisters, Sue VanKleek of Melba, Peggy Bagby of Boise, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to her nieces Michele and Kathy, friend Michelle, as well as Bridgette of Signature Health Hospice for their compassion and care.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00Pm on Thursday June 29th at the Melba Memorial Cemetery.

An open house reception at the Melba Valley Senior Center will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Idaho Humane Society, Melba City Park or your favorite charity.

Robin and Reid,
Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your mom. She was such an important part of my life. She taught me how to bathe a baby and how to enjoy life's simple moments like afternoons outside in the California sunshine. She also made delicious stew, tasty burgers on the grill, and the best homemade strawberry jam ever. Her needle point Christmas stockings are still a tradition at my house every Christmas. I will miss her.
Love, Mary Darr
