Murray Stevenson Obituary

Murray Paul Stevenson, 70, of Traer, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025 at his home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer with Pastor Brice Hoyt officiating. Interment will follow at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 12-2 PM prior to the service at the church. Murray was born on December 31, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Ione (Hunt) Stevenson. He graduated from North Tama High School in 1973. Murray was employed with Funk's Seeds for years until they closed. He then worked for several years at Peterson Construction (PCI) and then for the City of Toledo working in maintenance. He enjoyed local history and family ancestry. In his spare time, he liked working on older cars of all kinds and spending time with his close friends. Murray's greatest joy was taking care of the family farm, and time with his sisters, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Survivors include his sisters, Rhonda (Kevin) Bjornsen of Urbandale, Janis (Paul) Hoppe of Englewood, FL, and Lori Stevenson of Grimes; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future memorial designation. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home
