Nancy Hughes Obituary

CEDAR RAPIDS: Nancy Ann (Folkers) Hughes, age 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, September 22nd, 2025 at Hallmark Care Center. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28th, 2025 from 1-3PM at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street, Vinton, Iowa 52349). Nancy was born on September 30th, 1958 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, to Merle and Anna (Janecek) Folkers. She graduated from Urbana Community High School in 1977 and from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa on December 16th, 1982. Nancy was married to Mark Hughes from 1995 to 2007. Nancy was a P.E. and art teacher at St. Ludmila Elementary School in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed playing softball, shotput for track and field, hunting, and fishing. Nancy is survived by her siblings, Lora Schultz, Douglas Folkers, Terry Folkers, Pamela (Craig) Barber, and Susan (Robert) Barton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and step-father Frank Teffer. In lieu of flowers send memorials to Susan Barton (4328 12th Armored Division Ave, Fort Knox, Kentucky 40121).
