Dana Petersen Obituary

Dana Barnes Petersen, 72, of Mead, Washington passed away on August 18th. Dana was born on April 12th,1953 in Austin, Minnesota. He grew up with 11 siblings on a family farm where he developed a love for animals, working hard and harmless shenanigans. He often fondly recalled stories from his youth and his time growing up on the farm. Dana graduated from WSU in 1979 with a degree in construction management. In 1975, Dana married Barbara (BJ) Holms. They celebrated 50 years together this summer. They had 6 children. Dana worked in the construction field most of his life as a Project Manager in locations including Spokane and Salem, Oregon. Dana was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in various roles including leadership roles working with adults and youth in the Church. He was known for his sweet disposition and fun-loving nature. Dana enjoyed nature, being with family and working on various projects to include building two of the homes his family lived in. Dana is survived by his wife, Barbara (BJ), his children and their spouses: Aaron & Carolyn, Cody, Nathan & Leaa, Leanne, Trent & Tori and Trevor. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 siblings. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brooke. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, August 25th at 11:30 with a viewing to precede the service beginning at 10:00 at the North Stake Center, LDS Church 401 W Regina Ave. A Celebration of life will follow the service. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 2:30 at Fairmount Memorial Park 5200 W Wellesley Ave.
