Doreen J. McCully

Doreen June McCully (78) lifelong resident of Plummer, ID passed away at Benewah Community Hospital on October 14, 2025. She was born to Robert and Nora (McCartney) Janson in the family's little pink house on Highway 95 in the middle of Plummer, ID on June 13, 1947. Doreen was born and raised in that little pink house; she attended school in Plummer through the 10th grade. It was then she met Victor McCully and married him on December 28, 1965, at the Hitching Post in Coeur d' Alene, ID. The McCully's made their home in Plummer, and Doreen stayed home to raise her 4 boys. She took pride in her home and the raising of her children supporting them in whatever they wanted to do. The McCully home was very welcoming, and there was always the aroma of something cooking or baking. Doreen was exceptionally talented in the kitchen, and it is a well-known fact she made the best sugar cookies around. When holiday time came around, she put her heart and soul into the meals she prepared with her loving hands to make everything more special. She took the role as the family babysitter; however, Doreen loved all the children so much it wasn't really babysitting for her. Doreen loved spending her days watching the Game Show Network, her favorite pastime that never failed to bring her joy. When she wasn't caught up in a game show, you could find her cheering on the Zags, the Cougs or just about any local team; she loved attending the Spokane Indians games. She also enjoyed playing pinochle and working on puzzles, crosswords, and word searches. In addition to her many hobbies, Doreen had a special fondness for collecting mouse figurines, each one a treasured addition gifted to her by her family members. HER SMILE! Doreen is survived by her husband Victor at their home in Plummer; children Jeff McCully of Plummer, ID, Monty McCully of Worley, ID, Rick (Letitia) McCully of Otis Orchards, WA, and Gary (Cheri) McCully of Worley, ID; grandchildren Kyndra Kilian (Levi) of Waxhaw, NC, Carly McCully, Great Falls, SC, Tyler McCully of Post Falls, ID and Travis McCully of Plummer, ID; great grandchildren Lydia, Ronia, Mia, Jude, and Makenna; tons of nieces, nephews, and greats. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Maxine Leitz, Robert Janson, Don Janson, Dave Janson, Steve "Cork" Janson, and Roger Janson. Doreen's family invites you to a celebration of her life on November 8, 2025, at Noon at the American Legion Hall in Plummer, ID.
