Obituary for Jo Ann Getz (Styer) Jo Ann E. Getz, born on January 27, 1936, in Palouse, Washington, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Jo Ann was a beloved mother, Stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who left behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family. Jo Ann was a nurturing and caring woman who dedicated her life to raising her children and being there for her family. She was the proud mother to 8 children and 6 step-children. Christopher (Vickie) Curtis Roy Wa, Mary Kingery Missoula MT, Debra Hart Winchester Id, Jo Ann (Tony) Curtis Marysville Wa, and Joanie Curtis Vancouver Wa, She also cherished her stepchildren Jacqueline (Mike) Beaudry Bayview Id, Janean (James) Deatherage Idaho Falls ID, Janette (Greg) Doherty St. Maries ID, Jamie (Rodney) Stewart Rupert ID, Paula Babb Cheney Wa, and James Getz Lewiston ID. Jo Ann's family grew over the years to include 31 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Throughout her life, Jo Ann lived in various locations, bringing warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered. She was born and spent her early years in Palouse Wa before Marrying her first husband Arthur Curtis and traveling around the world with him while he was in the Air Force. Eventually moving to Potlatch Id in 1969, where her and her family lived until 1973. Afterward, she settled in Genesee Id from 1974 to 1986. In 1986 she moved to Moscow Id and in 1992, she returned to Potlatch when she married James Getz. She remained there until 2005 when she was moved into the convalescent center. When her second husband passed away in 2010. Her family moved her to Federal Way Wa. Jo Ann was employed at WSU since 1969 she retired in 1998 after many years of dedicated service. Jo Ann is survived by two brothers Dennis (Donna) Styer Milton-Freewater Or, and Richard (Janet) Styer Palouse Wa. Preceded in death by her parents Hazel and Royal Styer, her brothers Gerald, Bob, Marvin, Stanley, and Gene, her sister Helen, as well as her first husband Arthur and second husband James, Jo Ann also mourned the loss of her daughters Paula and Stephanie, her son Thomas, and two granddaughters Tanya and Melissa and two grandsons Dean and Colan. In her later years, Jo Ann developed a passion for collecting porcelain dolls and stuffed bears, which brought her immense joy and became a hallmark of her loving personality. Jo Ann's legacy of kindness, love, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered. A Memorial service will be held in her honor. Saturday April 12/2025 11:00 a.m. Federated Church, 635 N Bridge Street Palouse Wa. A Luncheon to follow at the church Donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association of your choice.
