Rayf Blize Obituary

Tribute Rayf Tucker Blize got his heavenly wings on August 16, 2023. Rayf was born on October 29, 2006, to Brandon and Emily Blize in Spokane Valley, Washington. Rayf was a loving brother to his younger sister, Jayd. He was also loved and adored by his grandparents, Ray and Peggy Blize, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rayf attended kindergarten through 5th grade at Pasadena Park Elementary, in the West Valley School District. Rayf then attended East Farms Elementary School, in the East Valley School District. After transitioning from elementary school, Rayf moved onto East Valley Middle school, where he spent his 7th and 8th grade years. During his high school years at East Valley, his dad was honored to have him in class. Rayf excelled in all academic areas, throughout his schooling years. He loved his agriculture class, earned a Greenhand FFA degree, took AP classes, and was consistently on honor roll. He was a proud, newly licensed 16 year old driver. Throughout his childhood, Rayf grew up engaged in many fun and exciting adventures. He enjoyed being creative and showing how much he loved life. Rayf spent a lot of time with his aunt and uncle, Bree and Brian Hickman and cousins, Brayson and Brynlyn. The two families would hang out regularly. Some of Rayf's favorite family activities were building a "Blickman" mobile, playing video games, swimming, spending weekends at Silver Mountain, creating talent shows, and going to San Diego Zoo and Disneyland. When Rayf wasn't at school, he was enamored with all things nature. Rayf felt at peace and most comfortable surrounded by the mountains and trees. He was raising quails, pheasants and chickens. Rayf loved spending time in the aviary with one of his prized Red Golden Pheasants, "Phoenix". Rayf had a way of speaking to the animals he encountered. He had an entourage of wild turkeys that came onto the property, used his hands to feed birds, made friends with a feral cat, named Smokey, and he was raising bees and collecting honey. Rayf also took great pride in growing flowers and vegetables, and anything that involved the land and nature. Rayf is survived by his parents, Brandon and Emily Bize and sister, Jayd, as well as grandparents Ray and Peggy Blize. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, grandma Mona, and loving dog, Keara. Rayf was a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a grandson, a friend, but most of all an amazing human being. His funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E Buckeye, Ave, Millwood, WA 99212. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, 17825 E Trent Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99216. Please share your memories of Rayf on his Tribute Wall.

"Love is as strong as death. As inevitable, as powerful, as eternal. It can´t be escaped. It can´t be avoided. It won´t be forgotten. And when death is gone, love will remain."

I will always remember seeing Rayf at the open house for school and running into each other because Michael was in class with him. His smile would light up a room it seemed like. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this hard time!

Rayf was such an amazing friend, he always knew how to make someone laugh wether it was running up behind someone to surprise them or to say some sort of silly joke he always knew how to get people in a good mood. I am so so sorry for your loss and I know he is in a better place and although I’ll miss him sneaking up behind me everyday to scare me I’ll always remember him. May the love of your friends and family help you guys get through this tragedy.
