Our family met Bill at Christ the King Church in Spokane. Before long he became acquainted with our family and certain struggles we had to deal with. He was very concerned and always offered to pray. In 2013 the church got a new building to occupy and Bill (in his 80s) was volunteering to help with physical work around the church. A room was being remodeled and Bill was up on a ladder either pulling out old insulation or putting in new. A younger lady church member scolded Bill for climbing up the ladder but he was undeterred. This was remarkable because Bill was already having health issues affecting his balance! In 2015 he brought his power saw to church and was busy cutting boards for a new community garden being built next to the church. (See photos I have uploaded) Around this time or a bit later I had written a book about Spokane memories from the 1940s. I made it my policy to give a copy of my book to anyone in the church 80 years old or older. Bill was delighted with the book and wanted to take me and my wife out to dinner to say thank you. We had a date planned but he had a health issue and we never re-scheduled. That would have been a great time. God's peace be with Bill and all his family and friends.

I loved working with Bill at Christ the King on electrical wiring and plumbing. He and I spent many hours talking about church accounting and the church´s fiscal situation. I will miss him greatly.
