Bobby Gowen Obituary

Bobby Gene Gowen, 93, of Bardstown passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Green County to his parents, William and Elsie Jeffries Gowen.

Bobby retired from General Electric after 30 years of dedicated service. He was passionate about his work, loved traveling, cars, motorcycles and was a member of Temple Hill Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Wade Gowen; a daughter, Evonna Gail Stith; a brother, Orville Gowen; sisters, Mae Prentiss Long, Geraldine Aubrey and Gloria Fay Stillwell; grandson, Christopher Metcalfe and great-great-stepgrandson, Christopher Garion Jr.

Survivors include his wife of many years, Estelle Underwood Gowen; children, Gregory Gene Gowen (Nelda), Gary Wayne Gowen and Jasmine Nicole Akridge (Kyle); stepchildren, Belinda Hefley Veluzat (Jim) and Mitchell Hefley; siblings, Ronnie Dale Gowen (Margaret), William Ralph Gowen and Mary Anne Meredith (William Thomas); 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Trowbridge Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction with Bro. Bruce Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

Trowbridge Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction has been entrusted with the arrangements.
