Carolyn Haydon Obituary

Carolyn Greenwell Haydon, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply. Born on Nov. 3,1947, in Bardstown, to James Bernard "Jimmy" Greenwell and Verna Mae Greenwell, Carolyn lived a life rooted in faith, family, and boundless compassion.
A proud graduate of Bethlehem High School and Edgecliff College, Carolyn carried her devotion to education and community into every chapter of her life. As a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, her faith guided her actions and shaped the quiet strength she offered to others.
Carolyn was the true embodiment of what a mother and grandmother should be-warm, generous, steady, and endlessly present. Her light and laughter filled every room she entered, and her kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She lived and breathed for her grandchildren, pouring her heart into each of their lives. She lovingly extended that same spirit to their friends, becoming a grandmother figure to many who needed one. Her devotion to her family was unmatched; every decision she made was guided by love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James Bernard "Jimmy" Greenwell and Verna Mae Greenwell; and her brothers, James Bernard "Jim" Greenwell and Joseph Ignatius Greenwell.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph "Jodie" Haydon; daughters, Allison Haydon Osborne (Chris Osborne) and Amy Haydon Pehlke. Carolyn's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Caroline, Christopher (Amy Luu Osborne), Haydon, Nicholas and Miller Osborne and Amelia and Hilary Pehlke. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. a.m. at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, with the Very Reverend J. Randall Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 28, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barlow Funeral Home and on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Carolyn's life was one of unwavering love, generosity, and grace. Her family takes comfort knowing that her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched, and in the laughter and love she inspired in all who were blessed to know her.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem High School or St. Joseph Church.

Two of my best friends were J.I. and David. So this hurts me just like Jodie and Carolyn were family to me because of the time I spent at their homes. Words can not express how sad I am for the families, my friends.

I grew up with Carolyn.....she lived across the street. Jodie was the brother of my good friend, Norma Jean. We celebrate their lives. Sending lotsa love to the entire families.
