Charles "John" Thacker Jr., 77, of Bardstown, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at Hardin Baptist in Elizabethtown. He was born on October 4, 1945 in Louisville to the late Charles John Sr. and Catherine "Kitty" Kleier Thacker. John was a graduate of St. Xavier High School. He worked at Engineering Concepts and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. John was a Yankee's and NASCAR fan and was an avid golfer.
John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Nel Seaton Thacker, children, Cathie Wocks (Rob) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pamela (Steve) Whelan of Louisville, Mike (Kim) Thacker of Louisville, Ginnel(Tommy) Phillips of Cox's Creek, Gregory (Heather) Long of Burlington, one sister, Charlene(Raymond) Currie of Winnipeg, Canada along with 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Tom (Paula) Walton of Bardstown and his beloved dog Sadie Belle.
A funeral will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with cremation to follow.
