Donald Rutledge Obituary

Donald Clayton Rutledge, 80, of Bardstown, joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021. He was born on July 12, 1941, to the late Geneva Wieland and Sylvester Rutledge.
He was a member of the Bardstown United Methodist Church where he served on several committees over the years.
He loved the Lord and serving within the church.
He retired from Ready Electric Company Inc. in 2003. Don was a Master Mason and Past Master of Fall City Lodge #376 F.&A.M./Buechel Lodge #896 F.&A.M.
He was a man of honor and loved and respected by many. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and anything outdoors. He would never turn down an opportunity to play cards or games with the family. He never met a stranger and made many life-long friends along the way because of his friendly and open nature.
He was greeted in Heaven with loving arms by his mother, Geneva Rutledge Wieland; his father, Sylvester Rutledge; a sister, JoAnn Moore; brothers, Sylvester "Bootsie," Leonard and Walter Rutledge; and his stepfather, Otto Wieland.
He loved and cherished his wife of 47 years, Sandra "Gayle" Rutledge. She will always hold him close to her heart and cherish the memories they made together.
He loved and raised four children: Tammy Rutledge of Louisville, Kim Skaggs (Timothy), of Houston, Texas, John Amshoff (Stacey Hurley-Roggentine) and Rachel Amshoff (Brian) Owen, both of Bardstown. His children loved and respected him and will miss calling him for his advice and instruction on how to build anything.
He adored his grandchildren, Luke (Lexy) Skaggs, of Houston, Texas, Matthew (Jessica) Skaggs, of Greenwood, Ind., Jordon (Josh) Stieler, of Evansville, Ind., Elizabeth Martin, of Florence, Madeline Martin, of Lexington, Carolyn (Adam) Donahue, of Cox's Creek, Aaron Amshoff, of Richmond, and Grant Amshoff, of Morehead.
His heart grew even bigger with his great-grandchildren, Zola Skaggs, River Skaggs, Jameson Skaggs, Evelyn Skaggs, Gideon Stieler and Aria Stieler.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Rutledge, of Louisville; a brother-in-law, Rick (Elaine) Cecil, of Culvertown; many cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and his cat, Ted.
He will live on in the hearts of those that loved him and in the stories they tell. Those stories will be sure to make them smile and remember how much he loved them.
Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, followed by a Masonic service at 4 p.m. with a memorial service at 4:30 p.m. at Bardstown United Methodist Church, 116 E. Flaget St.
