Martin McNulty Obituary

Martin Albert McNulty, 74, of St. Petersburg, Fla., was called home to rest Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. Born May 2, 1938, in Owensboro, he was the eldest of his 16 siblings.
He served in the United States Army, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in economics from Auburn University and his MBA from Memphis State University. He and Trudy left Tennessee for Key West where he was a teacher at Florida Keys Community College. They relocated to St. Petersburg in 1972 where he briefly attended Stetson Law School and continued teaching at St. Petersburg Junior College and Pasco-Hernando Community College. He went on to become a successful commercial real estate and business broker and owner of Best Business Brokers.
A loyal friend to many, a humble patriarch to his immediate family and extended family tree, a funny and kind man who never missed the opportunity to pay someone a compliment (especially his wife). He was intelligent and curious, and true to his calling and was always teaching those around him anything he could. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, art collecting, gardening and listening to his bluegrass and folk music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Anita McNulty; two brothers, Dan McNulty and Jimmy McNulty; and a sister, Jeanne McNulty.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Trudy Hagan McNulty, of Bardstown; two sons, Matthew (Stephanie) McNulty and Jacob (Dawn) McNulty; four grandchildren, Madeline Reisz, Jacob Boone, Coleman Alexander and Dylan Finn; 12 of his siblings, Rosemary (William) Payne, John (Frankie Beth) McNulty, Pat (Donna) McNulty, Anna Ruth (Danny) Lyon, Mike (Mary "Bennie") McNulty, Helen (Mike) Shull, Martha (John) Mancinelli, Rachel (Leon) Higdon, William A. (Diana) McNulty, Margie (Dave) Jackson, Mary Ann (Steve) Drexler, and David (Renee) McNulty; 12 Hagan in-laws; 68 nieces and nephews; and 60 great- nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of his life will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 26, at the St. Petersburg Garden Club, 500 Sunset Drive South, St. Petersburg, Fla.
