January 14, 1930 - November 8, 2025
Charles William Boma, 95, of La Crescent, died on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Tomah Veterans Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1930, in La Crosse to Rupert and Catherine (Von Arx) Boma. Charles served with the US Navy from 1951 – 1954. He worked as a rural mail carrier in La Crescent for over 27 years. Charles enjoyed sports and played baseball in high school. He tried out for the New York Yankees and played with Mickey Mantle. He was a member of the American Legion Post 595 in La Crescent for over 70 years and was a longtime member of Crucifixion Catholic Parish.
He is survived by a niece, Mary (Butch) Boma-Dahl; six nephews, John (Ann) Boma, Pete (Cheryl) Boma, Tony (Janice) Michalke, Richard (Sue) Michalke, Jim (Roxanne) Michalke, and Joe (Jane) Michalke; many great nieces and nephews; and his very good friend, Rose Albrecht. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and James; his parents; and a nephew, Larry Michalke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Crucifixion Catholic Church, La Crescent. Father John L. Evans, II will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
