Elizabeth Jane Veldey

Jane Veldey passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Gundersen Medical Center.

She was born on July 25, 1964 at Fort Polk, Louisiana (now Fort Johnson) to Gary Mark Veldey and Mary Elizabeth Veldey.

She graduated from John Edward High School, Port Edwards, WI in 1982. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in American history at St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN in 1986 and her Masters Degree in Education and Professional Development at UW La Crosse in 1991.

Jane worked at CenturyLink as a Sr. Analysis and Support Systems. She was praised for her excellent work ethic and for the good work she did.

She volunteered at New Horizons, the La Crosse Public Library, and WAFER.

She learned to read before she started going to school. She always had a book nearby and was a lifelong reader.

Jane is survived by her mother, sister-in-law, Laura Engan; her niece, Jillian (John) King and their son, Canaan; aunt, Pat Dow; cousins, Steve (Peggy) Dow, Anne (Randy) Beemer, Eric (Julie) Veldey, Matthew Veldey and Steve (Wendi) Fugate.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harmon and Delores Veldey and Clark and Margaret Caldwell; her father Gary and brother Mark.

Jane's mother is deeply grateful for the entire Gundersen Oncology and Intervention Radiology staff for the care they provided, especially Doctors Gil Harmon and Collin Driscoll. Also, for the staff at Gundersen Medical Center, especially Doctor Jasmine Hudnail.

Jane, who was kind and helpful to so many, will be very much missed.

The Dickinson Family Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

A private service will be held at a later date at Christ Episcopal Church, La Crosse with Father Mike McElwee officiating.
