Laura A. (Hirschfield) Copus

Laura A. (Hirschfield) Copus passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

Laurie was born in Viroqua, WI to Ronald and Mary (Kearney) Hirschfield on December 26, 1963. She graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1982, then got her CNA certification where she worked at Vernon Manor in Viroqua, before she decided to farm with her parents on the family farm.

She married the love of her life, Brian, on June 7, 1997. Together, they raised three children: Rachael, Cory, and Emily, in the Readstown/Soldiers Grove area. She continued to farm with her husband, Brian, on the family farm until she went to work in Soldiers Grove, most recently, at Burkum Milling.

Spending her days on the family farm and cooking for her family, was when she was happiest. Laurie was known for her potato salad and homemade biscuits.

She is survived by her husband, Brian; her children: Rachael (Larry) Cramsey, Cory (Jaden) Copus, and Emily (Adam) Wuensch; her sisters, Rosie (Mike Moran) McCullick of Readstown and Clarice (Jim) Zenner of Medford, WI; nieces, Melissa (Michael) Knutson, Brooke McCullick, and Erica Copus; very special great nieces, Natalie Swenson and Addilyn Knutson; a great nephew, Beau Knutson; and other special aunts and uncles. She was also survived by a very special high school friend (sister), Marla Dopson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Mary Hirschfield; her brother, Ronald (Bud) Hirschfield; her mother-in-law, Belva Copus; and her sister-in-law, Diane Olson.

A private visitation was held for immediate family on July 4th. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the family farm's park on Prestegard Road outside of Readstown. In lieu of flowers, bring your best memory or pictures. Online condolences may be made at
