Patricia Ann McCormick

ONALASKA - Patricia Ann McCormick, age 89, of Onalaska, formerly of La Crosse, passed away on July 8, 2021 at Gundersen Health System. Pat was born on October 17, 1931 to Ora and Anna (Ohlson) Bright. Pat was united in marriage to James William McCormick, Jr. on September 22, 1956. They had 43 years together until Jim passed away in May of 1999.

Pat was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, now known as Faith United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Women's Group and sang in the choir for many years. Pat was also involved with serving Monday Meals and Mobile Meals delivery.

Pat graduated from Logan High School in 1949 and attended UW-L for a time. Prior to having a family, Pat worked at Barron's Department Store. She stayed at home with her children until they were teenagers and then went to work at Doerflinger's Department Store. She later became a vault clerk at First Federal Savings and Loan, now known as Associated Bank, until she retired.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Mary Borgen of Onalaska; son, Michael (Sara) McCormick of La Crosse; grandsons: Seth McCormick and Samuel McCormick; and great grandsons: Ashton McCormick and Theodore Gonyier, all of La Crosse. Pat is survived by several nephews, great nephews, and great nieces. In addition to her parents, husband and many others, Pat was preceded in death by her brother, John Bright and granddaughter, Christine Caroline Borgen.

Pat had wonderful friends over the years. She is survived by two very special friends, Ruth Kielley and Sally Olson. The three of them played violin together for countless hours and events over the years. Pat was a member of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and in later years joined the UW-L Orchestra as a community member. Pat LOVED music! Pat had very special church friends in Ray and Hazel Anderson and special condo neighbors in Glenn and Debbie Fleege. Pat enjoyed traveling over the years. She especially enjoyed a trip to Hawaii with Jim and a trip to Europe with friend, Ruth.

Pat lived at OnaTerrace Senior Living for about two years and most recently SpringBrook Memory Care for a little less than two years.

Pat was a survivor of breast cancer twice and she always said, "The first 100 years are the hardest!" Pat loved deeply and unconditionally. She showed nothing but love and kindness to all. Her grandsons/great grandsons brought great joy and happiness to her life right up until her last day.

Pat's family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System for taking such good care of her and keeping her comfortable on her last day.

Family and friends are invited to funeral services on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 1818 Redfield St., La Crosse with visitation at 10:00 AM. I first met Pat at River Walk Condo Association where she was the "key lady." She was a great lady who will be missed.

Mike and family, I am so very sorry for the loss of your mother, Pat. She was such a great lady and I loved sitting and chatting with her so many years ago. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
