I know this is long after. But I often think of Shirley. Especially when I see a finger nail moon. Which I refer to as a Shirley moon. She was a quiet mystic in my mind. So supportive of all the random grief a girl had in her twenties and thirties. I knew her through FSPA affiliation but we met often to discuss poetry over lunch. I miss her. And her energy. I hope her family is doing well. She sure was a special lady.

As an affiliate, I saw Shirley upon occasion on my trips to LaCrosse for meetings, etc. I remember how welcome and comfortable she made me feel. I remember once when I couldn't consider lodging through the FSC, she offered me lodging. I didn't end up needing it, but was amazed that someone who barely knew me would offer such a thing. A true Christian blessing was Shirley.

Heaven has gained a beautiful angel! My deepest sympathy to all family and friends who shared life and love with Shirley. I will greatly miss the wonderful conversations we had together during the years she was a Prayer Partner with the Franciscan Sisters. May she rest in eternal peace and joy.

Shirley was a valued member of the AMOS board for several years, a willing volunteer and a calming presence. In the last couple of years I enjoyed seeing her again on the Zoom screen for morning exercise with Gwyn. A gem of a person. I will greatly miss her.
