Virginia M. Gast

TOMAH - Virginia M. Gast, age 87, of Tomah, WI, went home to be with the Lord November 2, 2021, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was born May 30, 1934, to Everett and Margaret (Tanner) Brothers in Southern Illinois.

A most profound joy for Virginia was that she could come to know God through accepting His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as her personal Savior.

After graduating high school in Carrier Mills, IL, Virginia attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN, where she met her husband, Rev. James Gast. They married April 7, 1956. Together they pastored churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. The last two years of their ministry was with a Christian Chemical Dependency Restoration Program, Teen Challenge in Brooklyn, NY and Minneapolis, MN.

Most recently, Virginia enjoyed her home and being with family and friends. She truly enjoyed her grandchildren! She was grateful for all the help her grandson James gave as they worked together on little projects on her property. She especially enjoyed driving her granddaughter Emily to school every day – this was their special time to begin each day.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters: Becky (Steve) Evans of Tomah, WI, and Joy Gast of Tomah, WI; two grandchildren: Emily Virginia Evans and James Sherman. She is further survived by her sisters, Monzelle Hanson and Lavetta (Bruce) Pope, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at the Necedah Assembly of God Church. Pastor Jim Christensen will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
