Dolores Blackwell Obituary

DOLORES "DEE" MARGARET BLACKWELL Age 76 of Simi Valley. Passed away on September 12, 2004, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Dolores was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on June 13, 1928. She moved to Los Angeles, California with her parents, John and Edna Content and brother Vincent Content in 1936. She later lived in Studio City and finally in Simi Valley with her husband Ray. Dolores was a very caring person and had an intense love for her entire family. Her greatest earthly loves were her husband Ray and her two sons Raymond and Roger. She enjoyed people and many good friends. She loved sports, particularly baseball. She was a "true blue" Dodger fan. Dolores also had a significant impact on many young lives as the athletic director and girls soccer coach at Blessed Sacrament School in Hollywood for over ten years. She was a proud law enforcement wife and mother with a husband and son on the Los Angeles Police Department and another son with the California Highway Patrol. Dolores was a faithful member of the Grace Brethren Church of Simi Valley. She loved to take part in worship services and ministry activities with friends and family. Dolores candidly stated many times that she was looking fo rward to seeing the Lord face to face. Dolores is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond J. Blackwell; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Connie Blackwell of Simi Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Karen Blackwell of Agua Dulce; grandchildren Casie, Christie, Wesley and R.J.; sister, Sandra Fide of Moorpark; brother, Cyrus Content of Arizona; she is also leaving behind four nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Content. Services were held at Pierce Brothers Valley O ak Mortuary, 5600 N. Lindero Canyon Rd., Westlake Village, CA 91359 on Thursday, September 16th at 12:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in the name of "Dolores Blackwell", 225 N. A day does not go by that I don't miss you Mom. You weren't just a great mother.........You were a great lady with a "servant's heart". You loved the Lord. You loved the Lord and your testimony lives on through your children and your grand children.
We will see each other again when we are together in the presence of the Lord!
