Grace Shelton Obituary

GRACE LEONE SHELTON #1> Born March 1, 1926 in Inglewood, California, passed away on November 4, 2005 in West Hills, California. Daughter of Thomas B. and Lucy Leone Blackwell (both deceased). Married her high school sweetheart, Miller Leland Shelton, on January 9, 1946. Moved to Encino, California in 1949 to start a family. John Lee Shelton was born on December 5, 1949 and Thomas Dean Shelton on June 8, 1955. The family was very active in camping, fishing, hunting and enjoying life together until the tragic death of John in November of 1973. Time passed and life went on. Son Tom married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Healy of Woodland Hills on October 12, 1974. They have three children, John Lee Shelton, Lacy Nicole Shelton and Justin Healy Shelton. In December 1985, the sudden death of Miller "Poppa" brought pain and tr agedy again. Life again went on and Grace had years of enjoyment with her grandchildren. In 1996, her long-time close friend, Beverly, came to live with her and the two became inseparable, enjoying many trips and family get-togethers. In January 2000, her grandson, John, married Brandy Gean Wehmeyer of San Antonio, Texas. They have two children, Jordan Christine and Russell Miller. In August, Grace began a downhill race for life in the final stages of emphysema and went to be with her beloved Miller af ter 20 years apart. Many friends and loved ones have come and gone in her life, too numerous to list the names but the ones who are still with us know how important they were to her. As she wished, there will be no services and she will be cremated, her ashes spread at sea just as Miller was. Her final wish is for family and friends to enjoy food and drink at an open house in her West Hills home on November 12, 2005, 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. For information and directions, call Tom Shelton at (661) 940-8688.
