I had the privilege of meeting and admiring Tiger as a member of the Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association. He, like many of his era, instilled a profound feeling of awe in me. What they did, how they accomplished it - and with very little fanfare - makes Tiger a true "hero" in my eyes. Tiger, his wit and his smile will be missed. But I know that when other's look "On Heaven's Gates," they'll be comforted because another Marine will "be standing duty."

Dear Helena,

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of LTC Palmer. I had the honor of meeting him (and you!) a few times at The Smoke House. While our country owes a great debt to "Tiger" and his comrades, I know he had many other accomplishments as a civilian. He will no doubt be missed by many, and I only hope you can soon find peace during this period of loss.

Sincerely,
Brian Cotter
