William Windette Obituary

WILLIAM ROBERT WINDETTE Passed away September 15, 2008 in West Hills, California. Born July 6, 1947 in North Hollywood, California, to Lois Pearleen and Vernon George Windette. Bill lived his entire life in the San Fernando Valley where he graduated in 1965 from Van Nuys High, his parents' alma mater. As a youth he worked for his father in numerous businesses where he developed strong entrepreneurial skills. He started an aircraft parts brokering business with his partner Gary Berger in a cramped office. Bill and Gary would build Castle Precision Industries into a 150-person aerospace manufacturing, overhaul , plating and cutting tool business. Bill was a devoted and caring boss; his employees called him Patron. He truly viewed them as his extended family. Bill enjoyed traveling with his family in his RV to practically all the states and national parks, including Alaska. He loved games: poker, chess and softball with a team he managed and played with for 35 years. He enjoyed talking about almost every sport, but was especially enthused about boxing. An avid animal lover, he became skilled at the care and f eeding of the numerous pets, including reptiles, dogs, birds of all kinds, spiders and whatever injured animal he came across in his travels. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon; his son, Keith; daughter, Lisa and son-in-law Chris Carey; his brother, Boyd and sister-in-law Pam; and his niece, Blair; his cousin, Bob Demetrion; and by Bill's pride and joy: his grandsons, Michael and William Carey. For information about the memorial service call Castle Precision Industries (818) 362-5665. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions in memory of Bill to either the International Myeloma Foundation (www.myeloma.org), or California Wildlife Center (www.californiawildlife center.org). He will be truly missed.
