In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Brenda (Hicks) Harp; brother, Gary Harp; sister in-law, Phyllis Tippitt; and grandson, Jason Danklef.

Jim is survived by his children, Stephanie (Paul) Lovell and Darren (Amy) Harp; grandchildren, Danielle (Nate) Maleski, Austin (Kylie Thomas) Danklef, Sarah (Nathan Perkey) Harp and Andrew Harp; sisters, Mary Sue (Francis) Queener, Wilma Harp; brother in-law, Phil Tippitt; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Jim graduated from Jellico High School in 1961. He then moved to Dayton, Ohio, and worked for various manufacturing companies before beginning his career as a fire fighter. Jim retired in 1995 as a lieutenant from the city of Dayton Fire Department after 25 years of service. Upon retirement, he followed his passion for boating and moved to Somerset, Kentucky, to be near Lake Cumberland.

The graveside service was on Tuesday, July 26 in the Douglas Cemetery in the Wooldridge community in Jellico.
