John M. Cuel Jr.

John M. Cuel, Jr., age 82, of Newcomb, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was born March 17, 1935 in Campbell County. John was preceded in death by wife, Mary "Coot" Cuel; daughter, Diane Wheeler; father, Jovina Mano Cuel; mother, Janie Lay Cuel; sister, Hazel Brock; brothers, Joe Cuel and Daniel "Don" Cuel, Sr.
He is survived by daughter, Betty Cuel; grandchildren, Riki Petrey and Victoria Petrey; two great-grandchildren, Zoey Petrey and Brody Petrey; son-in-law, Marty Wheeler; brother, Jack Cuel and Patsy; sisters, Katie Staton and Minnie Bayer and husband, George and sister-in-law, Pat Herrell and husband, Bart. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Lay officiating. Interment was in Douglas Cemetery (Wooldridge Community) with military honors given by the American Legion, Arlie Long Post 154.
Harp Funeral Home, of Jellico, was in charge of arrangements.
