Chester Iwan Obituary
Chester M. Iwan, 69 years old, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Hospice House in Sarasota, FL. He was born on June 8, 1947, in Waukegan, IL. The son of the late Frank and Lillian (March) Iwan, Chet served his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1965-1968, during which he did two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Chet worked for the Lake County Sheriff's Office from 1968-1997. He held the rank of Lieutenant and was appointed Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division. He was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, VFW, and Fraternal Order of Police. Chet is survived by his wife, Rebecca M. (Day) Iwan; beloved pet, Baxter; his brothers, Henry (Barbara) Iwan and Stanley (Lenore) Iwan; sister-in-law, Judi Czech; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and friends in Lake County, IL, and Sarasota, FL. A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick Church, 1500 Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, IL, on June 8, 2017. Visitation at 9:00am followed by mass at 10:00am. Interment will be private.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
