David C. Jefferies

1935 - 2023

David C. Jefferies: 87 years old of Antioch, IL passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday morning, March 14, 2023. David was born October 28, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Edward and Rena (neé Becker) Jefferies, living in Danbury, CT, West Chicago, IL, and Libertyville, IL, before settling in Antioch, IL in 1998. On September 15, 1956 he married the love of his life, Doris Wirtz in Hereford, MD. David proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Before his retirement in 2002, David began his career as a medical photographer, later working in marketing for Abbott Laboratories, and retired as the Executive Director of the Clara Abbott Foundation. David was also a successful real estate investor for many years. He was a member of the Chain of Lakes Community Bible Church, Lake Villa, IL and enjoyed: options trading, photography, woodworking, vacationing in Marco Island Florida, and especially being with his family.

Survivors include: his wife Doris (of 66 years); four sons: David Jefferies of Joliet, IL, Dan (Nanette) Jefferies of Ellicott City, MD, Don (Angie) Jefferies of Shelbyville, IL, and Duane (Sandy) Jefferies of Ellicott City, MD; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by three siblings: Robert, Edward, and Dorothy.

Funeral Services with military honors will be held 1PM Saturday March 25, 2023 at the Chain of Lakes Community Bible Church 43 W. Grass Lake Rd. Lake Villa, IL 60046, with visitation beginning at 11AM. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Antioch, IL. Arrangements were entrusted to the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH.
