Donald Stratmoen Obituary

Donald P. "Papa Don" Stratmoen, 66, of Riverton, Wyoming died January 23, 2015 with his family by his side. Don was born January 26, 1948 in Omaha, NE. He had a Master's of Divinity, was a pastor, counselor, social worker, and finally a building inspector. He was active in RCIA and many ministries at Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park, IL. While serving with the United States Army, he was awarded many medals such as; National Defense, Good Conduct, Vietnam Service, and a Bronze Star. He lived in Wyoming where he enjoyed spending time with the Shoshone Indian Tribe on the Wind River Indian Reservation. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles, painting, sailing, traveling, visiting caves, all animals, and especially loved collecting coins. His grandchildren were everything to him and he spent much of his time with them. Don is survived by his children, Katrina (Kevin) Johnson and Michael (Bobbie) Stratmoen; 7 grandchildren, Mickayla, Gavin, Ashleigh, Kevin, Kara, Paige, and Brian; siblings, Mark (Leslie) Stratmoen and Mary (Phil) Stratmoen; and former spouse, Dee Stratmoen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lois Stratmoen; and brother, Randall Stratmoen. The family would like to thank Hospice Optum for taking such good care of Don. Visitation will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated. Please visit the online guest book at www.congdonfuneralhome.com.
