Eugene Parker Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Anthony Parker of Antioch, Illinois, died peacefully in his home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 9, 2022 after a full life of 83 years. Born in Providence, RI, he attended Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Master's degree in Physical Pharmacy. Beginning as a research pharmacist and retiring from the Division of International Marketing, Gene had a successful 34-year career at Abbott Laboratories. He was part of the development and patent team that invented the disposable intravenous bag, which is now in standard use in hospitals worldwide. We loved the coins, dolls and chocolate that he brought us from his trips all over the world.

He was a pioneer at The Chapel in Grayslake where he headed the Tithe Team. He and his wife, Cynthia, taught the preschoolers in the Sunday School ministry for 20 years. He is remembered as a loving father and for his love of sports-football, basketball and baseball, raising tropical fish, his Belgian Shepherds, making delicious desserts and especially his love of chocolate.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Esmerelda (Cimorelli) and Eugene Parker of Providence, Rhode Island. He leaves behind his wife, Cynthia, sister Carole (Allen) Restivo, children Terry Tolson, Christine Parker, Rosemary Edwards, David (Stephanie) Parker, Andrea Majewski, Kirsten (Michael) Mitchell, Chrissie (Ryan) Nelson, grandchildren Jordan Edwards, Chad Edwards, Colin (Ashley) Parker, Ben Tolson, Dylan Parker, Logan Parker, Henri Mitchell, Jasper Mitchell, Priscilla Mitchell, and several nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews

Gene will be honored at a memorial service on July 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at The Chapel-Grayslake, 25270 W. IL Route 60, Grayslake, IL. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Gene's favorite charities: The Society of St. Francis Animal Shelter, 12300 116th St, Kenosha, WI, The Chapel Grayslake, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I am saddened to hear of Gene's passing. Gene was a kind and gentle soul. He was always there for me even during the darkest of times. And I always welcomed his wisdom. I know he is in God's loving hands. May he rest in peace.
