Cannot believe we are going on 17 years in a few weeks. Your son must be so big. Never got to meet you personally but your sacrifice affected my family sincerely. My children father served with you. Everyone was heartbroken. You are remembered this Christmas, again. And again. Rest in peace Jason.

I walked passed your stone today (Memorial Day) in Highland Park. We never met, but we went to the same high school where you graduated a few years before me. We both ran track, we both served with the 10th Mnt Div around the same period. I came home, you did not.
May your memory and spirit live on through your family and friends.
Rest brother. We'll carry your load.

Thinking of you, as I do, every Christmas Day.
You were a friend of my brother and served along side him. You had his back and that means a lot to me.
I could never thank you enough for your sacrifice.

Now it is the 10th year anniversary of OIF. He will always be the face of the War for me. The young man I met at Dry Hill Ski Area with his new snowboard, his army buddy, and the wrong socks. Jason chose to make the North Country his home. He will always be one of ours. I visited his boots at the moving memorial when it was in Grant Park in Chicago a few years ago. Never forget. Always remember. We owe that to him. Blessings to his family and friends.

Hey Brother. I have been thinking about you a lot today and I thought that it was about time that I finally put something on here. I just want you to know that there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss you and feel guilty for not being there to do something when this all happened. I have struggled with that since it happened. You were a great friend, leader, mentor and father. I only wish that I would have had more time around you because you made everyone you ever knew a better person and I thank you for that.

I know your pain
I know your sorrow
It feels as though there's no tomorrow
It's Christmastime
Your child is gone
But know that from the great beyond
He's watching you
And is so proud
Wanting you to sing strong and loud
Allow this Christmas season in
So loving life can begin again.

January 1, 2009

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jason, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Your Birthday is coming up and Anthony and I can't stop talking about you. The one memory that sticks out is your speech at our wedding, how you ever did that being as drunk as were still amazes us. Were going to have a baby in October, how I wish you could be here. I know how much you loved being a father, and how proud you would be to a god father too. We decided to name a lil girl Jaylon, in honor of you, we thought you would like that. Jay, Anthony and I love you very much and will never forget you, you will have a special place in our hearts.

To the family of Sgt. Jason C. Denfrund I write you today with a heavy heart. Jason was by far one the best soldiers that the army has produced. Always motivated , professional and, determined. I remember sitting around with him joking and always quoting the movie The Big Lebowski. Or times when I was feeling down and, he would talk to me, letting me know that things will be okay. He was a great Soldier and a great friend. Theres not a day that goes by when I don't think of him. I miss him very much. God Bless

He was a great man , father , friend , and soldier. We would always share stories about our sons and family on almost a daily basis. He was a great and loyal friend to me and everyone in 1ST Platoon Speraheads. Many soldiers looked up to him for guidence and leadership. He will always remain in my thoughts. We love you jason as a friend and a brother. " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down him life for his friends."

This is one of the most difficult experiences in my life. You were not only one of the most dedicated Soliders I have ever met, but you were one of the finest individuals I have ever met. For your family, I am sorry that I couldn't do more that day. Deaton and I and all the others did our best. For Jayden, your father was the best. He loved you and was very, very proud of you. August 7, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
