Grace Evelyn Chandler Hawkins Moore

October 27, 1945 - May 8, 2023. This obituary is written for my mother, Grace, who was an avid obituary reader. In the past few years as her vision deteriorated, she always had the newspaper ready when I visited her and asked me to read her all the obituaries. Now it is her turn to be remembered, Grace Evelyn Chandler Hawkins Moore was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Mrs. Moore passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family, who held her in their arms until she was welcomed into heaven.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Deborah Godbold (John), and her daughters, Lana Hawkins and Lisa Hawkins, who preceded her in death, her sister Cathy Ross (David), her brother Danny Chandler (Pat), a brother who preceded her in death, Rual Chandler (Mary Beth), grandchildren, Ashley Willliams, Liana Godbold, Rayne Hawkins, Micaela Hawkins, Andrew Godbold (Jordan), great grandchildren Madison Williams and Ezra Barrientos-Hawkins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.
Mrs. Moore was born in O'Brien, Florida and had lived in Lake City for the last 33 years. She loved birds, butterflies, and flowers. She loved spending time with her family even more. In lieu of flowers, her family would like to request that donations be made to the Resident Trust Account at Solaris Healthcare of Lake City, Florida. Mrs. Moore was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake City, Florida.
Services for Mrs. Moore will be held there on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception and visitation immediately following at the church.
